This is a statement building, demonstrating its presence to serve and protect the local community. It also forms a crucial part of the redevelopment of the wider John Stokes Precinct while providing local police officers with new facilities and the latest technology. Key police initiatives operate from the new facility including the School Based Policing Program and a Youth Diversion Unit. The 24-hour station has operational capacity for over 70 officers.
Project features
- 24/7 patrol capacity
- Muster rooms to cater for general-duties officers
- Community space
- Multiple interview rooms
- Break-out spaces
- A conference room
- Weapon and evidence storage
- An outside respite area for all staff
- Car parking and security fencing around the complete perimeter of the complex
The architectural design of the powder coated aluminium sunscreen around the forward facia and eastern aspect of the building represents the colours of the Nightcliff Foreshore. The building itself is hardened, achieving an IL4 rating. Backup generators ensure the station can still be operational during a catastrophic event.
DCOH delivered on its commitment to maximise local industry participation throughout the construction phase achieving 100% local content with our subcontractors and suppliers.
